The Process

Million Million Monkeys believes that an educated client is a happy client. Why make certain suggestions, why make the design choices we make— we want you to know.

When we take you on as a client, what can you expect from us? What goes on behind the scenes?

The Process chart, detailed below

Research

MMM carries out preliminary talks with the client and looks into several things to see if and how they factor into the construction of your brand and/or website.

Business
What do you or your business/organization do? What is your mission? What do people need to know about it?
Target Audience
Who is your current audience/consumer base? Who do you want to be your audience?
Competition
What does the competition look like? Who is your competition's target audience? What differentiates you from the competition?
Look & Feel
What are you looking for in the design? Provide us with "buzz words", samples of past materials, and samples of materials that are similar to what you're looking for.

Design

Much of the design phase is carried out by MMM. This is where we get creative. Your job here is to give us guidance.

Site Map
We will construct a site map to map out the structure of the site and the hierarchy of pages. Where, if at all, will dynamic content or special software (i.e. Content Management, E-commerce, Blogging) be needed? We'll discuss what webhost will fit your needs.
Thumbnail Sketches
On our end, we do some hand-drawn sketches to get out design ideas, come up with variations.
Comps
This is the first you'll see of the design. We'll provide you with rough layouts and illustrations to see which you'll like.
Feedback/Approval
We'll discuss the comps, provide you with a reasonable amount of new comps (if needed), and make any tweaks. Once a design is decided upon, we do some fine-tuning and prevent you with WYSIWIG (What You See Is What You Get) comps. At this point, you will sign off on the final design.

Production

Production is when everything happens. We start building the site and getting your stationery system and any other identity materials printed.

Domain/Webhost
Before we can get moving on the website, we must purchase the domain name(s) and purchase a webhosting plan.
Graphics
Here, we prepare files for the web and print. Web graphics are broken up and optimized for the web. Photos, if needed, are taken and re-touched. Files for print go through a pre-flight check and are sent to the printer.
Software Installation
Any web software you need is installed onto the server and customized for you.
Coding
Here, we code the design of your website and do any additional coding work to your web software. MMM also will work with your content to optimize it for search engines.

Post-Production

Everything is done now, right? Not quite; there are a few more steps to go!

De-Bugging
Is the dynamic content and/or installed software functioning correctly?
Testing
Now we run the website over with a fine-tooth comb-- check or broken links or images. If you're working with e-commerce software, we'll do a test purchase. If you've got a contact form or newsletter, we'll do an e-mail test.
Training
MMM will teach you how to use your new website and any special functionalities. We'll provide you with a style guide to help you maintain the integrity of your brand.
Hand-Off
Finally! You're ready to go. All files and materials are delivered to you in perfect order, and your website is made live.
